Diane Marlin Harper was born on October 11, 1947 in Syracuse New York, the first of four children of 'Polly' Parthenia Mary Harper (Wynder) and Merlin Harper, Sr.
Diane received her early education in Syracuse, graduating with honors from Nottingham High School in 1965. She matriculated at Connecticut College for Women in New London, where she received her undergraduate degree in 1969. She then enrolled at Rutgers University School of Law, earning a Doctorate of Law (JD) in 1973.
After graduating from law school, Diane worked as an associate for the law firm of Bond Schoeneck & King Pllc before relocating to Boston. Diane joined her sister Tamara in Boston, Massachusetts after coming to work as a law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge W. Arthur Garrity Jr. Judge Garrity issued the ruling ordering school desegregation in Boston.
After receiving the witness of the plan of salvation from her sister Tamara, Diane was baptized in the Name of Jesus and filled with the Holy Spirit. She was a faithful member of Mission Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in Somerville for over 35 years She was a member of the Women's Council and the Golden Age Guild. She was recipient of the faithful attendance award for Sunday School for several years.
Diane loved studying the Word of God and would often engage in Bible discussions with friends to deepen her understanding. Diane could humbly impress those with whom she spoke with her unobtrusive brilliance and keen yet quiet intellect. Diane is survived by her sister, Joyce L Harper of Maryland and her brother, Merlin Harper, Jr. of Hampton, VA. She was predeceased by her sister Tamara L Harper.
She also leaves to mourn friends and many church family members.
