William Walker was born on July 13, 1950 on Sapelo Island, GA to the late Luke and Bertha Walker. William was the sixth of ten children. He was named after his mother’s father. William was a member of the First African Baptist Church of Sapelo at an early age.
While in Georgia, he attended Sapelo Island Elementary and then moved on to Todd Bryant high school in Darien, GA. Growing up William enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. His greatest passion was working on cars.
William relocated to Boston with his brother Luke in his early twenties. While in Boston he held many different jobs such as masonry, tire repairman and as a Mechanic at the Boston Globe for over 20 years.
William was preceded in death by his wife the late Naomi Walker, brother Luke Walker, sisters Ophilla Everson and Luetta Johnson.
William’s memory will be cherished by his sisters Dorothy Holmes, Claretta Hamilton, Shirley Walker and Rosetta Walker, brothers Ernest and James Walker. Children Delores White, Sonja Jones, Willunda Jones, Renee (Kenneth) Jackson; grandchildren Jamal Jones, Travis White, Treasure Jones, Isaiah Walker, Jaheim Roberts, Blessin Matthews, Elijah Jackson; great grandson. He leaves a host of extended family and dear friends.
