Vinnie Marie Davis departed this life peacefully on June 6, 2020 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston. She was the beloved wife of James E. Davis.
Vinnie Marie Davis was born to Gilbert and Viola Boyd on July 30, 1945 in Bracy, Virginia. She was the oldest daughter and had 5 siblings, Ben, Brenda, Nelson, Milton and Douglas. She was educated in the Virginia School System where she met and married her high school sweetheart, James Davis.
Vinnie and James came to Boston in 1962, because she said farm life wasn’t for her. Her parents and siblings came a short time after. Vinnie worked for RCA for a short time but spent most of career at First Electronics Corporation in Dorchester as a Cable Assembler where she retired in 2016, after 45 years of service.
Vinnie loved being around her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved spoiling them with their favorite foods and desserts, she was very instrumental in their care. Vinnie was an amazing cook and was well known for her famous potato salad and corn pudding. She would feed anyone that was hungry because she was that hospitable. Vinnie made sure she called her 91 year old mother every day at the same time and made sure she had everything she needed. Vinnie would still cook large meals on Sundays for her husband.
In her younger days her children would enjoy watching Vinnie get dressed to go out with their Dad because she had the best clothes and was very fashionable. Vinnie made sure to do fun activities with the family like going to the zoo, aquarium, movies, circus, picnics and much more.
Vinnie and family lived in several neighborhoods before settling in Hyde Park in 1995 where she resided until her passing. In her past time she liked watching weekly TV shows, shopping, playing scrabble and doing word puzzles.
Vinnie leaves to mourn her loss her husband James Davis, her mother Viola Boyd, her sister Brenda Boyd her brother Milton Boyd; 5 children Pannie Davis, Kevin Davis (Bevette), Shawn Davis, James Davis (Elaine), Keith Davis (Theresa), 10 grandchildren, Robert, Khamyle, Kyle, Britany, Brittany, Chianne, Taylor, Dylan, Jahcelynne, and James; 5 great grandchildren Khayden, Kai, Jadrian, Safreya, Khallil, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
