Troy Twitty Obituary

In Celebration and Remembrance: Troy Juvon Twitty (1970-2021)

Troy Twitty will always be remembered as a good man who fiercely loved his family, friends, basketball, community and a good time.  His dependability, calmness, positive energy and charismatic aura left an impact on everyone he met.  On Sunday, June 6, 2021, Troy departed this life unexpectedly, but it was full of love and service.

The child of Ronna Mitchell (Sylvester) and Lance Twitty (Inez), Troy was born on May 14, 1970 in Boston, Massachusetts. Growing up in Boston, Troy’s passion for basketball was boundless.  His love of the game and commitment to lifelong friendships started at an early age at the Roxbury Boys & Girls Club, and never diminished.  Troy attended and played for Catholic Memorial High School. He graduated from Salem State College with a BS in Business Administration and the distinction of playing on the winningest basketball team in the college’s history.

Troy’s commitment and love for his family was the centerpiece of his life.  He was deeply devoted to his wife, Kellye, who was also his college sweetheart. They were together for 32 years and married for 23 years. Their children, Brandon and Nia, each received his special care, protection, nurturing guidance, and dedication.  Troy’s commitment to his children was demonstrated every day.  He showed up and supported all endeavors.  He made certain that they knew what they meant to him by his actions and deeds.

Troy spent his career at Plymouth Rock Assurance, where he worked for 28 years in positions of increased responsibility, most recently as Claims Supervisor. He was also a basketball official at the collegiate Division for Women for over 20 years. With a commitment to the community and a deep belief in giving back, Troy was actively involved in the Randolph community, coaching and refereeing youth basketball, assigning officials for summer league and Metro West, and was on the board of the Randolph Youth Basketball Association (RYBA) for many years.

Troy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and cherished memories to his wife, Kellye; children, Brandon and Nia; parents Ronna (Sylvester) Mitchell, Lance (Inez) Twitty; mother-in-law, Althea Terrell; sister, Monique Twitty; nephew, Aiden Twitty Solomon; brother-in-law, Andre Terrell; and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, extended family and many friends. Troy, you are truly loved, will be greatly missed, but always remembered.
