Mr. Teollie Fields of Mattapan, MA ascended to his heavenly home on November 10, 2023. Teollie was born on July 28, 1942, to Mr. Teollie Fields, Sr. and Mrs. Bessie Fields in the town of Sawyerville, AL. He was the fourth oldest child of nine children.
He attended and graduated from Hale County High School where he played football as a tailback. His legs may not have been the longest, but they sure were fast! While his sisters and brothers waited at the bus stop for the bus, Teollie would be waiting for the school bus on the porch. When he saw the bus coming, he would run about a quarter mile to get to the bus stop before the bus got there.
Later in life, Teollie relocated to Boston, MA, where he met Genevie. Teollie and Genevie were joined in Holy matrimony in 1965. To this union were born 2 children: Daryl Fields of Providence RI and Maury Fields of Taunton, MA. Teollie attained gainful employment at several companies, Kenneth Clothing Company, Cumberland Farms, Magnolia Market, Franky Foundation as a construction worker and New Market Meat Company. He went on to become an operator/driver for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) until he retired in 2008 after 23 years of service.
Teollie loved fishing and watching sports with his brothers, family, and friends. He was passionate about a few things; he loved his backyard, community garden, and his lottery. He truly had a green thumb in the art of gardening. He shared his vegetables with the neighbors, friends, and family. He was such a generous and giving man. He was proud of his accomplishments! Especially, his accomplishment of family. More than anything, he was passionate about spending time with his grandchildren & great grandchildren. He had great compassion for his family!
Teollie was preceded in death by his parents Teollie, Sr. and Bessie Fields, 3 brothers: Jesse, L. T. and Sam Fields.
He leaves to forever cherish his memories, his wife Genevie Fields, 2 sons Daryl (Pamela) Fields and family, Maury (Sinchona) Fields and family; 3 granddaughters: Tashawna Harrison, Chanell Harrison and Tiara (Ray) Cheek. 2 grandsons Christopher Ayuso of Mass, and Daryl J. Shepard of RI. 2 great-grandsons Ray Cheek, IV and Trey Cheek, and 1 great-grand daughter; Kaylin Rose Bazie. His siblings; 3 sisters Della Williams & Leona Sanford of Boston, MA, and Mary Simpson of Tuscaloosa, AL; 3 brothers: John Chavers of Chicago, IL, LC (Wilma) Fields of Mattapan, MA, and Albert (Phyllis) Fields of Randolph, MA; and 1 special aunt Jessie Lott who is 92 years old of Tuscaloosa, AL, and several special nieces, Beth LaKeisha Bly & Janay Sanford. He is also survived by a loving host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
