Sam Woods, Jr.

We celebrate the life of Sam (Little Buddy) Woods Jr. born March 10, 1943, in Wilcox County, Alabama. Little Buddy was one of twelve children to the union of Mr. Sam & Mrs. Pasty Gamble-Woods. He was a beloved brother, uncle, father, husband, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He relocated to Boston, Massachusetts in the late 1970s. Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and passion for speaking his mind. He was an active and proud community member of Kit Clark Senior Center in Dorchester, MA and often spent his time walking around being present in the community of Harbor Point Housing Complex.

Little Buddy was a bright light that illuminated this world with his presence. At every family gathering he made sure he brought out his best dancing shoes. He lived a life full of passion and purpose, and we hope that the memories we share today will help us feel closer to him even though he is no longer here with us physically. He was preceded in death by his life partner Mae Henry, Parents, Icola, Leon, Mitchell, Anna-Pearl, Janie-Mae and survived by his children: Renea, Wanda, Michael, and Trina along with his siblings: Bertha, Viola, Juanita (Nathaniel), James, Willie, Patricia, and loved ones.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for blessing us with Little Buddy—as we know he’ll be waiting for us when it’s our time to go home too! We ask for our Heavenly Father to be with us in this time of grief, offering comfort and strength as we begin to heal from our loss. We pray for peace and comfort for those who have been left behind.
