Our beloved, Sallie Constance Nichols, was born to the late Brever Barbour and Alene Cabell on September 13,1923, in Rockfish Nelson County, Virginia. She was one of five children from this union.
Sallie went home to be with the Lord on May 29, 2022, after a brief illness, surrounded by family. Sallie was baptized on August 28, 2021, when she rededicated her life to the Lord Jesus Christ.
Sallie was raised in Virginia with her four siblings, who preceded her in death: Viola (Vi), Beatrice (Bebe), Kathleen (Kitty), and Brever Jr. In 1940, she married the love of her life, the late Caesar W. Nichols Sr. Of this union, four children were born: Patricia Yarde, Dorothy Campbell (deceased), Carolyn Matthews, and Caesar Nichols, Jr. Shortly after Patricia, the family moved to Boston, MA, where they lovingly raised their family.
Sallie loved her family very much, and she really enjoyed spending time with them all. She had a host of friends that she cherished and would speak about often. She took pleasure in cooking and baking for her family and the neighborhood, especially for the holidays when family & close friends would gather to spend quality time.
Sallie enjoyed having a good time and traveling, whether for a family reunion, Caesar’s bowling league, or visiting her sisters in Philadelphia. She was the Matriarch and Pillar of her family & community. She helped raise her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many young children in the neighborhood. She was simply known as “Nana” to many. Her love extended to us all.
