Roger Bell Jr., 70, passed away on April 12, 2026. He was born on July 30, 1955, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, to Shirley Lynch and Roger Bell Sr. Roger grew up in Virginia, where he built the strong foundation of family values and humor that would define his life.
Roger proudly served his country in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army. His dedication and strength carried through not only his military service but also in the way he showed up for his family and friends throughout his life.
He was a man who truly loved being around people. Whether spending time with family, enjoying good food, or simply sharing laughs, Roger was always in the mood for a good time. Known for his silly personality and quick jokes, he had a way of making everyone feel at ease. He loved people for who they were, no matter the circumstances and accepted them with a genuine heart. One of his favorite sayings, "I'm a poor boy, a long way from home," was something he would often share, always bringing a smile to those around him. His contagious sound effects, humor, and warm spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
Roger is reunited in eternal rest with his beloved mother, Shirley Lynch; his father, Roger Bell Sr.; his wife, Denise Bell; and his daughter, Shirley Tanika Key.
He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his children, Kokelia Feagin-Avery and Te'mani Bell-Feagin; his grandchildren, Matiqua Liles, La-Naya Feagin-Payne, Kianna Feagin-Avery, Akeelah Feagin-Avery, Akori Feagin-Avery, and Karmani Feagin-Moreland; his siblings, Vanessa Bell-Spence (Larry), Claymon Bell, and William Bell; his stepchildren, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
