Our beloved Robin Renee Gay was born to Delores Gay and the late Ronald Robinson on May 25, 1960. She was the granddaughter of the late Ann Williams.
Robin was born and raised in Boston and graduated from Marblehead High School in 1978. She completed real estate courses at the Lee Institute, but eventually she chose to pursue a different career path as a nursing assistant in the medical field. Unfortunately, while interning at a medical facility Robin was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease which ultimately would curtail her ability to continue in that field.
In 1980 she gave birth to her first son, Kairi Tyrone Reid (“Kai”) and in 1988, she gave birth to her second son, Arabyn Justin Reid (“A.J.”). She would finally marry the late, great Melvin Ricardo Reid in 1991. The two of them had been in a serious relationship in Boston from the early 80’s until Melvin passed away in the year 2000. Melvin was a good man and caring husband and father and will always be missed as well.
Robin was a loving wife and mother. She was strong-willed, fiery, and passionate, with intriguing thoughts and opinions. Since her late teens and early twenties, Robin was known as a fashionista like you would not believe. She was a shoe fanatic and wore a size five and had lots of fun shopping for sample shoes. She loved music and it did not matter if she were in the house, outside, or in the car, her jams were always playing as loud as possible. She had great style and flare in every way!
We would like to acknowledge and thank Mark Frappier. Mark and Robin met in the early 2000’s and he became Robin’s long-term companion. We would like to thank Mark for the loving care and support that he provided Robin (his “buttercup”), during her lengthy illness. Mark, the family thanks you very much.
In 2009 Robin was diagnosed with a cancer known as multiple myeloma. She ended up on dialysis and chemo for eleven years. She was not going without a fight. Eventually, this led to other life-threatening illnesses. She fought long and hard but lost the battle due to complications of these issues.
She is survived by her mother Delores, her two sons Kairi and Arabyn Reid and his wife Marissa, in addition to her two grandchildren, Julian and Vayda Reid; her cousins, Keisha, Jeffrey, Tre, and Kiara Irving and of course her sister-in-law Margaret Reid. Margaret was a spiritual guide to her during some of the toughest times in her life. There are many other family members and friends whom we know always held a special place in Robin’s heart, way too many to list. Just know that… she loved you all.
