Robert Mallard Key who was affectionately known as "Bobby", was born in Boston Massachusetts on August 1, 1948 to the late Henry and Lillie Key. He was the youngest of two sons. Bobby confessed his faith in Christ in his early twenties. He attended Boston Technical High School and graduated in 1967.   His gift in mathematics was nurtured and became prominent in High School.   He attended the University of Massachusetts and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he majored in advanced Mathematics.  One of the things Bobby got great enjoyment and a sense of accomplishment from, was to find computational mistakes in Math textbooks. Bobbie had a strong love and dedication for family. He was a deep thinker and had an uncanny ability to remember dates. He would always make an effort to call his family on Birthdays and special occasions. Bobby was especially close to his maternal aunts, Elizabeth Nealy and Alyce Williams and his paternal aunt Abney Bourne. He would frequently call and visit to chat and check on t hem. He also had a close relationship with his cousins.

In his leisure time Bobby enjoyed doing numerical puzzles, he was an avid reader and he loved listening to inspirational books and lectures on tape.

In the last years of Bobby's life, he battled some health issues. He was assisted and lovingly cared for by his older brother Henry. Bobby fought a good fight and died on August 19, 2020 shortly after his Seventy Second Birthday.
