Queen Esther (Queenie) Parkman was born on December 6,1934 in Silver Creek, Mississippi to the late William and Cassie Parkman. Queen was educated in the Silver Creek Public School system and relocated to Evansville, Indiana after graduation to work in a factory. She later migrated to Boston, Massachusetts, where she met and married her husband. To this union, eight children were born to carry her legacy.
Queenie worked at the Polaroid Corporation for 25 years until her retirement. After retirement, Queenie delighted in spending time with her family and faithfully serving at Bethel Baptist Church in Roxbury, Massachusetts. At Bethel, Queenie wore many hats, including serving on the usher’s board, nurse’s unit, building fund committee, senior choir, and the missionary and deaconess boards. She was known to always go beyond the call of duty, putting all her trust in the Lord!
Queenie’s favorite past-times were to read her bible, watch television, travel, shop, keep the phone line occupied and cook, with love. Although kind-hearted, generous and forgiving, she always spoke her mind. There's a favorite saying by those who knew her, “There's 3 forms of communication; telephone, telegraph and tell Queenie!'’
On Friday, May 18, 2018 at her home in Foxboro, MA, Queen accepted our Lord's invitation of rest from her earthly pilgrimage, after fighting a long battle with leukemia.
