Phyllis Roy-Raines Obituary

Phyllis Roy-Raines was born on February 28, 1964, in Boston, Ma under the marriage of her late parents, Mary A. Roy-Morgan and Otis L. Roy.

She was a twin and the sixth child of seven children.

She attended the Jeremiah E. Burke High School and graduated in 1982.

Phyllis was spiritually raised at Holy Tabernacle Church in Dorchester under the late Bishop Joe L. Smith. She was on the Usher Board and Young Adult Choir. She continued her spiritual life at Greater Generations Tabernacle Church in Brockton under the late Pastor, Reverend Joe L. Smith II where she served on the Usher Board and was appointed to Missionary. She always considered the congregation of both the Holy Tabernacle Church and Greater Generations Church members her family.

In 1993 she met Dana Raines, where they were joined in marriage in 1997. They share two sons, Dana Raines Jr., and Dante Raines. For the love of family and to keep them connected she adopted her nephew, Dawon Roy.

She started her career at Hartford Insurance right out of high school and then went on to Maloney Properties, and next Washington Heights Property Management where she received her Property Management Certificate and lastly at the Boston Public Schools Welcome Center in Roslindale.

Phyllis loved being around family and her church family enjoying cookouts, the beach, family trips and karaoke. She enjoyed traveling and volunteering her time at her church home. She was known for her kind, nurturing voice.

On Sunday, May 28, 2023, Phyllis received her spiritual wings and transitioned from this earthly tabernacle to her heavenly home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary A. Roy-Morgan and Otis L. Roy, her late brother, Bernard Roy, and bonus Parent Fred Morgan.

Phyllis is survived by her spouse, Dana Raines; her two children, Dana Raines, Jr. and Dante Raines; 6 siblings, Yvonne, Louis, Denise, Phillip and Micheal (all of Boston, MA); 7 nieces and nephews; 10 great nieces and nephews; 2 great-great nieces and nephews; 4 godchildren (AJ, Jeremiah, Summer and Raine) and many beloved family and friends.
