We come together to celebrate the life of Patricia Catoe-Kelley, born August 28, 1947 in Washington D.C. to Caldwell and Louise Catoe. After her mother and father’s passing as a young child, she was adopted and raised by her great aunt in South Carolina. As an adult, she left South Carolina and travelled north to Englewood, New Jersey where she had her first two children. Shortly thereafter, in 1967, she made Boston her permanent home and would later have three more children. On June 3, 1989, Patricia married her love, “Kelley.”
God called Patricia home on the morning of November 19, 2022, after a lengthy illness. Patricia will always be remembered by her beautiful smile, her warm good morning, how are you?, a strong love for her family and friends, a willingness to bring those she cared about together, and her relentless charm.
Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert J. Kelley, her eldest son, Leroy Champion Jr., and her brother Richard C. Catoe. She leaves to cherish her memory her brother, Roosevelt Catoe and four children: Dorothy Champion, Jeffrey Champion, Marion Champion, Sharon Champion. She also leaves three grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Shanetta Smith, Alandra Champion, Alexandria Israel, and Eric Perkins Jr. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Robert Mae Catoe, her uncle Cannie Ealy, aunt Eva Mae Champion, nephew Melvin Catoe, and niece Velvet Catoe. Dear to her heart were her godchildren: Pamela Lando Clark, Robert Clark, and James Brown (deceased). Lastly, she will be remembered by a host of family and friends whom she loved so dearly.
Rest in blissful peace, Patricia, Mom, Nana, GG, friend. We will carry your warm, charming spirit in our hearts forever
