Beloved, ORMOND S. JAMES, JR. (Junie)
Died peacefully, at home, April 28, 2022.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Ormond S. James of the British West Indies and Louise (Hooker) James of Greensboro, North Carolina. He was the youngest of 4 children. He is predeceased by his siblings, brother Kenneth James, sister Grace (James) Moore and brother Ivan R. James. He is survived by his daughter Lauren (James) Henry (Sheila); his nieces, Cheryl (Moore) Williams, Karen (Moore) Jeter, Michele Moore-Pulley, Rene Gonsalves; his nephews Keith K. Moore and Kenneth Lewis; his grandson Thomas James; 7 grandnieces and nephews; many great-grandnieces and nephews and a host of neighbors and friends.
Ormond grew up in a closely-knit, West-Indian families’ community on Northampton Street in Boston.
Ormond served in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 through 1958 and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. Upon discharge from the service, he married his sweetheart, Beverly Ann (Shephard). They had one daughter Lauren Marie. Ormond worked for a private firm as an Electronics Engineer until he retired in 1999. Ormond was a Mason of Union #1 Lodge of Massachusetts, Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons.
Ormond loved socializing with family and friends, loved watching his Boston sports teams, and loved walking. He enjoyed listening to other people’s stories, sharing his own, and he loved a good laugh! Ormond was an easy-going, balanced man. His gentle, kind spirit will be sorely missed.
