Norma Iris Pedroza, age 61, passed away peacefully May 17, 2020 due to diabetes and congestive heart failure. She was born November 29, 1958 in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico to Inez Pedroza and Ramon Lopez. Moved and raised in Roxbury MA at age 15 with all her siblings where she met all her friends in the neighborhood of Egleston Square.
Norma completed her education at Madison Park High School. For many years Norma worked at Brookside Community Center in Jamaica Plain and McDonalds retail restaurant in Roxbury Ma. It suited her servant heart. She worked hard to make sure her kids always had a roof over their head and food on the table.
Until her health condition made it impossible, Ms. Pedroza was active in the life of the church at St, Mary’s. She loved being with her grandkids Daniel and Rosa and going to every shopping center with her sisters and daughters. She loved attending every family gathering and ceremonies.
Norma loved to love on people. She loved gatherings and just being around family and friends. She loved filling crossword puzzles playing dominos and watching her favorite tv shows. Her hands and nails were always long and manicured to her perfection. She also shared her love with food such as slim Jim’s with her grandson, plantains and fried pork. We all loved her homemade cooking especially her rice and pernil.
‘My mom was the strongest woman I’ve ever met. She wasn’t afraid of anyone or anything. She was a fierce Mama Bear. There are stories I can tell you — like the one when I was younger and she disciplined me to stay in my room to stay away from adult gatherings( still feel that), and until the day we last made sure I was home and safe”.
Her life was a living example of Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Norma is survived by her brothers and sisters Tony, Tito, Nilda, Nereida and Maribel. Her three kids Felix (Alex), Denise, Dianelis and six grandchildren Rosa, Daniel, Alayna, Daniel and Jonathan. And her many nephews and nieces. All of these she loved and touched deeply.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Funeral Home Davis Funeral in Roxbury MA by Tuesday May 26 and or her home 2933r Washington St Roxbury MA.
