Mildred Aubry, 67, was born May 29, 1953, in Canton, Mississippi. Born Mildred Day to Climentine Hawkins and Percy McMurtry, Mildred was the second eldest of eight children. Mildred learned the meaning and value of family and friendship early in life, and her early beginnings informed her character and her work ethic. She surrendered her life to Christ at an early age. She remained faithful in the service of God.
She attended Holy Child Jesus School in Canton, MS where she graduated from high school with honors. She, then, attended Tougaloo College in Tougaloo, MS, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Shortly after, Mildred moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where she resided for well over 40 years. She loved living in Boston.
Mildred served the healthcare industry as a medical secretary in the Department of Neurology at Children’s Hospital for the majority of her career. She loved taking trips to spend time with family, listening to and enjoying vast genres of music and talking and laughing with dear friends. She had a great gift for story-telling and a sense of humor that kept us in tears.
After her retirement, she spent much of her time with her daughters and grandchildren in Boston and Houston, Texas.
