Melvin Herbert King, Sr. "Mel" of the South End of Boston passed peacefully in his home on March 28, 2023 at age 94. A community leader, political activist, author, songwriter, youth advocate and retired educator. Beloved husband of 71 years of Joyce I. (Kenion) King. Devoted father of Melvin King, Jr., "Skip", Pamela, Judith, Michael, Nancy and Jomo King. Dear brother of Olga King. He is survived by 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
