Mary was born in Spindale, North Carolina on February 6, 1941, the daughter of the late Preston Goforth Whitesides and Nettie Jackson Whitesides, sister of David Whitesides, Levy Whitesides, Emanuel Whitesides, Elijah Whitesides, Daniel Whitesides, Samuel Whitesides, Paul Whitesides, and Lillian Whitesides.
Mary attended Carver High School in Spindale, North Carolina. She will be remembered for her many talents dancing, singing, sewing, cooking, and knitting - as well as her elegant fashion sense. She was a beautiful, kind, caring person that loved her children. She had a personality that made everyone like her - she was funny and made you laugh and smile.
Mary loved all her children and she had a kind heart. She was proud of all her smart, talented, and intelligent sons, Leroy, Terry, Terence, George, and Tony. She loved them all and they loved her too. She also loved her daughter Darlene and was very protective of her. She loved her daughter and I loved my mommy with all my heart. We will always love you and miss you, mommy.
She is preceded in death by her son George M. Whitesides, Jr.
Beloved mother of Darlene Whitesides of Boston, MA, Tony (Chelion) Whitesides, Terence (Shirley) Whitesides and Terry V Whitesides of Columbus, Ohio, and Leroy Whitesides of Spindale, North Carolina.
