Mary Joe Miler, better known as ‘ Grandma’ and ‘Ma’ to her family, was born April 11, 1940 in Lincoln, Alabama to the late William & O’Della McCluney. Grandma moved to Boston, Massachusetts in 1967. Upon arriving in Massachusetts with her young family, Mary found employment and worked very hard until she retired. Grandma had the gift of always helping people in so much that at different times in her early retirement years, she had some of her grandchildren live with her. She was a true family woman who enjoyed being in the kitchen where she specialized in cooking Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner because she loved to see her family eating and drinking together. “Grandma “ was known for her generosity and hospitality; extending her gift of helping others by opening her home to family and friends. Grandma was a strong faith- believing person. She loved to dance and praise the Lord. Even as she became weaker, she always had the strength to give God praise and dance. May she find eternal rest in the land where there is no sunset or dawning.
