Loving Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend, who positively influenced every life she touched Marion Jones, passes away May 8, 2022 at age 68, while hospitalized in Salem Hospital, Salem Massachusetts. After a courageous battle with Cancer throughout her illness she never complained despite the challenges she endured.
Marion was born and raised in Boston and is preceded in death by her parents Mose and Helen Williams and sister, Louise Hughley-Ash and brothers James Hughley and David Williams.
Marion leaves to mourn her son Dawon Williams of Roxbury, MA, her son, Richard Jones of Pensacola, Florida, three grandchildren – Shaniqua Parsons, Daeqwona Williams-Jones and Dawon Williams Jr., and two greatgrandchildren of Boston MA
Marion a 1972 graduate at Jerimiah E. Burke High School of Dorchester, MA. She worked at Sears in the Fenway for many, many years. Soon after, Marion met and married Paul Jones of Boston, MA. Paul and Marion had a strong desire to live in the south. They purchased a home and shortly thereafter relocated to Pensacola, Florida. Although Marion and Paul were divorced a few years ago they remained good friends helping each other.
Marion dedicated 30+ years of her career as a licensed foster parent for the Florida Department of Children and Families. She had a passion for helping children. She welcomed them into her home day and night and provided exceptional care, as if they were her own children. Marion received several rewards for being an outstanding foster parent.
Marion enjoyed life, she didn’t want for anything; she had a sweet and gentle personality. She was a strong woman, who fellowshipped in church and kept her faith in God throughout the trials and tribulations life brought upon her. Marion enjoyed traveling, especially coming back to Boston visiting her Mom and family. Marion loved to shop and participate in the Florida flea markets
Early 2021, Marion became concerned about her health and decided to relocate home to Boston. Her son, Dawon welcomed his mom back home December of 2021 and provided her with housing and care for her medical needs.
None of us were aware of severity of Marion’s illness; she found comfort in handling this battle herself. What a strong warrior, mother and sister!
Marion is also survived by her brothers, sisters and brother in-law from Boston: Maurice Williams, Dr. M.M Campbell, Linda Williams, Darrel Williams, Terri Wright and Vincent Wright in addition to her nieces, nephews, cousins and longtime friends. Marion, you’ve gone home with Mom and Dad now. You will be missed!
