Maria Rodrigues Ribeiro

With profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, Maria Rodrigues Ribeiro, who peacefully entered eternal rest on June 7, 2026, at the age of 97.

Maria was born on August 6, 1928, in Mosteiros, Fogo, Cape Verde, to Joana Rodrigues Gomes and Fidel Miranda. Raised with strong family values, unwavering faith, and a deep love for family, she carried those values throughout her life and passed them on to future generations.

A woman of strength, grace, and devotion, Maria dedicated her life to caring for those she loved. Her kindness, wisdom, resilience, and generous spirit touched all who knew her. She found joy in bringing family together, sharing stories, offering guidance, and creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and love.

Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Pedro Dias Ribeiro, who passed away in 2013. Together, they shared 62 years of marriage, building a life centered on love, faith, family, and perseverance.

She is lovingly survived by her children: Maria “Nhanha” Ribeiro, Teolinda “Tudeca” Ribeiro, Antonio “Chalana” Ribeiro, Eunice Ribeiro, Celina Ribeiro, Maria “Dulce” Centeio, Veronica “Bebe” Monteiro, and Victoria Fernandes.

Maria’s greatest joy was watching her family grow. She was blessed with 23 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, each of whom carries forward a part of her legacy. The family she nurtured and loved so deeply stands as a testament to the strength, compassion, and values she instilled throughout her life.

Though our hearts mourn her passing, we find comfort in knowing that her love remains woven into the fabric of our family. Her memory will live on in the stories we share, the traditions we continue, and the generations that follow.
