Maria Matilda Harvey was born on September 18,1949 to Hyacinth Harvey and Clairmont Ford in Christ Church, Barbados. It was there that Maria received her early education.
Maria subsequently left Barbados and emigrated to the United States where she resided in Boston, Massachusetts for more than fifty years. Maria worked at the former University Hospital in Boston MA while pursuing studies to qualify as an Elementary school teacher. Maria entered the University of Massachusetts, Boston, where she earned a bachelor's degree and later she gained a master's degree in Educational Administration from Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater MA. Maria worked for more than thirty years as a teacher in the Boston Public School where she touched the lives of many young children.
Maria became a member of St. Cyprian's Episcopal Church Roxbury in the early seventies and became a very active member of the congregation by participating in all aspects of its ministry.
Maria is preceded in death by her siblings Gloria Mason, Dorothy Harvey and Jameison Harvey. She is survived by her twin sister Elaine Harvey (Boston), brother Stephen Elcock (London England). She leaves to mourn nephew's Kenrick, Carlos, Kevin of (Boston) Mark of California) and Jimerson Jones of (Barbados) nieces Wendy, Myrna, Quinta, Rhonda, Andrea Belus of (Boston) and Ernesta Forde of (Barbados). She is also survived by a loving host of other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.
