Madeline Estella Godfrey McLaughlin was born in La Lima, Honduras, on April 23, 1928 and she departed this earthly life on October 12, 2021. She was nicknamed "Nena" by friends and family and "Lita" by her grand and great-grandchildren. Madeline was a long standing member of her beloved church Shawmut Community Church of God, where she was known as Mother McLaughlin. Madeline had a strong faith in God, treasured fellowship and family. She loved to take trips and travel. She was well known for cooking for her loved ones and friends, no one would leave her home on an empty stomach! Madeline prided herself on fashion and her collection of decadent hats. She had a talent for growing beautiful plants. Although Madeline struggled with health conditions for many years her faith in God and fighting spirit never wavered.
Madeline attended Zone School in Honduras. She migrated to Boston, MA in the Spring of 1965 alongside several close friends Ida, Yolanda and Rose where she undertook housekeeping for the Kaufman Family.
