Linda Lassiter Obituary

Linda Wells Lassiter passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019 at the Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Worcester, MA.  She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Eula Wells, brother, Richard D. Wells and sisters, Cynthia Wells  Nunez  and Deborah Wells  Maze .  Linda is survived by her daughter, Alicia Lassiter, son, Vincent J.Lassiter, granddaughter, Kelly Coleman, spouse Vincent T. Lassiter,  sister, Donna Wells, brother, David Wells. mother in-law Louise Lassiter, sister in-law Cynthia Diggs, three brother in-laws Victor Lassiter,  Alberto Nunez,  Terrence Maze and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Linda Marie Wells Lassiter was Born July 25, 1962 to the late  Richard and Eula Wells.  Linda attended the Boston Public School system and graduated in 1980 from West Roxbury High School.  She then enrolled at Bay State Community College in Boston pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts.  Linda married Vincent T. Lassiter during this union they welcomed Alicia Lassiter in 1987 and Vincent J. Lassiter in 2003.  While fulfilling her duties as a wife and mother, she worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for nearly 13 years in the Department of Youth Services. Linda was a faithful  member of  Morning Star Baptist Church  for over 30 years where she served as a member of multiple Choirs  “ The Sanctuary Chorale and The Gospel Choir”.
In 2015, Linda was officially diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gherig’s disease.  Her strong faith in God helped her to persevere through her illness despite the toll it took on her body.  She had a humorous side about the disease and would often use it to help her get through the difficult days and nights she experienced along the way.  Although she lost the use of her hands and arms, she maintained the willpower within her to make her way from Framingham, MA  to Mattapan, MA to attend  choir practice on Thursday and church on Sundays. Her belief in God allowed her to maintain her determination to attend church services, sing in the choir, laugh at her difficulties and advocate for herself. She was a strong woman both physically and mentally despite having this debilitating disease.   She has now passed on to another life to join her loved ones, but most of all to meet her savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
She will be deeply missed by her friends, family and all who knew her.
