Leonard “Lenny” Sheffield, 78, was born on May 22,1943 in Newport, Rhode Island to the late Thelma Elizabeth Stevens (Sheffield) and Arthur Sheffield. He grew up in Boston and in 1963 graduated from The Boston Trade High School for Boys in Roxbury, MA. He also attended classes at Massasoit College. While in school, Lenny played football, ran track and enjoyed boxing, hunting, billiards and jazz.
As a career, Lenny chose to be a set up machinist and worked for many years at the U.S. Repeating Arms Winchester Rifle company.
Lenny was a free-spirited individual filled with love. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and biking. He loved spending time with his family and friends at gatherings and taking trips. The tropics, trips to Newport and Wildwood, N.J. were the places he loved. Lenny lived life on his own terms and was always a good time with a great sense of humor; He’d call you and say “it’s Santa Claus!”
Lenny got along with everyone; he was your favorite uncle! He loved music and dancing; he even won a cha- cha contest. He thought Buicks were the best cars, enjoyed his football Sundays and took pleasure in an iced cold Budweiser.
On November 10, 2021, Lenny lost his battle to cancer. He passed in peace at Season’s Hospice. Lenny resided in Norwood, MA, at the time of his passing. Lenny is preceded in death by his parents: Thelma Elizabeth Stevens (Sheffield) and Arthur Sheffield as well as his siblings William Sheffield, Reginald Sheffield, Theodore Sheffield, Marlene Sheffield, Thelma Sheffield and Janice Sheffield. Lenny is survived by his siblings: Arthur Sheffield, Charles Sheffield, Elizabeth Sheffield, Charlotte Barbosa, Frederick Sheffield, Ralph Sheffield and his children Stacy Terry, Leonard Sheffield, Tony Tate, Pamilla Sawyer, Lennette Barros, Jason Hamilton, Lenise Jordan, Leonard Hamilton, Raeshaun Lopez (Gomes) along with a host of grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.
