Larry Sloan son of Matthew and Azalee Sloan was born to them on Novemeber 19, 1949 in the innovatice city of Brooklyn, New York. He was one of seven children, Jr. Sloan, Butch Sloan, Gregory Sloan, Ronald Sloan, Jerovine Ramon, and Patricia Sloan who for quite some time called Brooklyn home. After a few years Larry and his siblings have moved to Greenville, South Carolina to live with their maternal Grandparents.
Larry was raised by an industrious Grandfather and spiritual Grandmother. He learned the value of hard work and an ember of faith was ignited and grew. He graduated from State High School with a great education and accolades for his participation in his school band along with track and field. Following his graduation from high school he enlisted in the United States Army, and later re-enlisted in the United States Airforce where he medically retired as a Noncommissioned Officer in the United States Airforce.
During Larry's tours of duty he met and married the love of his life Clair Sloan. Upon retiring from the armed forces they decided to raise their growing family in Boston, MA where both he and his wife had a loving extended family and friends. While residing in Boston, MA Larry Sloan joined the civil service and worked for the government in the Department of Defense as Contract Administrator. His service of work to this nation, citizenry, community, and family would be for 30 years on the job. Through out his life Larry had a strong love for God and commitment to the church. For many years him and his wife served as pillars to their community and church. After 40 years of marriage Larry’s loving wife passed on before him in the summery days of 2019. Larry Sloan would survive his wife for 5 more years remembering everything they shared and built together. Larry's sunset was met on August 29, 2023.
