Keith Maurice Barnes, beloved and devoted husband of Darleen Barnes and father of Miranda Barnes was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 16, 2020 after a lengthy battle with Cancer. Keith a wise man with little words, was born September 19, 1956 to the late Susie Myrtle Barnes in Franklin Virginia. He now joins his mother, Susie Barnes, mother-in-law Sadie Washington, bothers; Marvin & Waverley Barnes; uncles Melvin, Raymond, Oscar & William Barnes, as well as, aunts Kristine Barnes House, Ethel Moore and Alberta Powell.
Keith received his GED at Paul D Camp Community College in VA. Before relocating to Boston Keith worked at Planters Peanut Factory in VA. Keith attended the University of Massachusetts where he received a Certificate in Alcohol and Chemical Dependence in 2004. He was also received a certificate as a Social Worker from Bristol Community College 2009. Keith was an Alcohol and Drug Counselor and truly enjoyed the work he did and the clients he served. Keith was someone who touched the heart of every individual he met with his smooth and caring demanor. Keith worked at Bay Cove Human Services for 10 years as an Addictions Recovery Coach and Case Manager, and Fathers Bill’s for 5 years as Support Staff. In his leisure time Keith enjoyed playing chess, reading and watching sports.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory daughter, Miranda Barnes, wife, Darleen Barnes; five brothers Jimmie Barnes, Anthony Barnes, Robert Floyd, Wayne Barnes, and Lyndon Barnes; one sister, Chris Barnes; two aunts Pearl Barnes and Marjorie Saunders; one brother-in-law Frederick Washington Jr; four sisters-in-law’s; Taundalier Zimmerman, Carla Barnes, Dawn Barnes and Lela Barnes; Father-in-law Frederick Washington Sr. and his wife Linda Washington. He also leaves behind a host of Nieces and Nephews and close friends that he called family.
Keith will be remembered as a very kind but strong man. Though he as quiet and reserved, he captured the hearts of all he came in contact with. Keith was a man of God and his story told the story of one who can get back up again. He is and will always hold a special place in the heart of his family, friends, and coworkers.
