Joseph Mark Isles was born In Boston, MA. on July 3, 1960, the oldest child of the late Catherine Theresa (Mason) Isles and Irving Isles Sr. He grew up in Roxbury and Dorchester and was a graduate of The Boston Latin School, class of 1978. In 1980, he married his high school sweetheart Georgeanna McLaughlin and they raised two children- their son Joseph Isles, Jr. and daughter Constance Isles. Joseph graduated from Fisher Junior College with an Associate in Science degree in Business Management in 1982 and graduated from Bentley College in 2005 with a Bachelor degree in Management. He also took courses at the New England School of Photography.
Joseph enjoyed the many different jobs and careers he engaged in over the years. As a teen he worked with friends at the McDonalds near his high school and was a security guard for Watts Security. Later he worked in the mailroom for Boston Radio Station WRKO. Then he worked in the mailroom at Travelers Insurance in Boston. As an adult, he worked for Teradyne Automation Technology and Manufacturing and for many years at State Street Bank in Quincy, MA. He worked there in many positions, with his final assignment as vice president of Global Payment Systems. While working at State Street Bank, he was sent as a representative to England and Germany to help resolve communication issues. Then he worked for The Valley Works Career Center in Lawrence, MA. as the assistant director. Joseph also worked for Jet Blue Airlines at Boston’s Logan Airport until he and his wife Georgeanna moved to Kissimmee, Florida. He worked for BAGS Hospitality and Customer Service at the Orlando Airport until he was promoted to manager at the BAGS Tampa Airport location. His final job was as a salesman at Napleton Car Sales in Florida.
Joseph loved doing things with his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, basketball, photography and sailing…he owned several boats- the first boat he owned was named Mi Sueno (My Dream), then Enchanted Isles, then Treasure Isles and finally The Nile Princess. He kept his first boat at Marina Bay in Quincy MA. and later became a member of the Watertown Yacht Club, where was installed for a year as the first African American Commodore of the club. Joseph enjoyed swimming and scuba diving and even trained in Boston to become a certified scuba diver. Joseph often said, “being father to his children was the best experience in life he ever had.”
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Irving Isles, Sr. and Catherine Isles, sister Paula Isles and brother Irving “Butch” Isles, Jr. He leaves to treasure his memory his wife Georgeanna McLaughlin Isles of Kissimmee, Florida, son Joseph Isles Jr. and daughter Constance Isles of Dorchester, MA., sisters Stacey Isles-Brako (husband Frank Brako, Jr.) of Dorchester, MA., Cheryl Isles Alford (husband Clinton Alford) of Lawrenceville, GA. and Jean Isles of Cambridge, MA., grandchildren Dasan Culbreath- Isles, Shawn Culbreath-Isles, Theresa Culbreath-Isles and Joseph M. Isles III, cousins Judith Isles and Gaston Isles of Trinidad, West Indies, Rev. Dorothy Isles-Smith and Cheryl Allen of Randolph, MA., sisters in law Mercy McLaughlin of Turners Fall, MA., Lana McLaughlin of Dorchester MA. and Joselyn West Isles of Mattapan, MA., brother in law Mark McLaughlin Sr. of St. Petersburg Florida , mother in law and father in law Madeline and Wilson McLaughlin of Boston MA., God son Darius Thoney Johnson, God daughter Felicia Bourne-Grant, Aunt Dora Honey Desmond of Scott, Louisiana, many nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
