The Life of
Joseph Hillard Cook, Jr.
Sunrise March 02, 1940 *** Sunset March 31, 2020
Joseph Hillard Cook, Jr., the oldest of four children, was born to the late Catherine and
Joseph Cook on March 02, 1940, in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
He experienced a Spiritual education in his early years at the Massachusetts Avenue Baptist Church in Cambridge.
Joseph attended the Peabody School, Cambridge during his early years and when the family re-located to Boston, he continued on at the Sherwin School.
Joseph was affectionately called “Junior” by his family and “Joe” and “Shoe” by his friends and co-workers. Junior was basically a very private and gentle person. As a young man he worked delivering oil from trucks in Boston and surrounding towns. He diligently took pride in his work and was later employed for many years by the City of Boston. Joe retired from The Boston Medical Center in 1996, reluctantly leaving behind many good memories.
Joe never drove a car, but there was not much he didn’t know about Boston. He traveled the transit system extensively and acquired many friends who worked for the MBTA.
Joe also was well known by the many residents at John Elliot Square where he lived for many years.
Junior was very much loved by his family and during the latter years he became closer to his brother Ron and his sister “Sis”. Junior went to live with Ron and Christine until he eventually resided at Briarwood in Needham.
Joseph Hillard Cook is preceded in death by his brothers Allen and George.
He will be missed and lovingly remembered by brother Ronald Cook and sister Alverta P. Sneed
A large family of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins and all the friends and acquaintances he met along the way… Rest In Peace, Beloved.
