Joseph Brown was born on October 10, 1936, in Eutawville, South Carolina. He is the son of the late Rev. David M. Brown Sr. and Sarah Taste Brown. He was one of twelve children and he attended the Eutawville school system.
In his twenties, he decided to move to Boston, Massachusetts in the late 1950’s. When Joseph first arrived in Boston, he was employed by Schrafft Company and later Atlantic Steel. He then found his purpose when he became employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, at the Solomon Carter Fuller Mental Health Hospital, where he retired in 1992.
Joseph met his beautiful and graceful wife Bernice Brown, and they married on April 10, 1962. Joseph was the proud father of three children; Donald Martin, Marcus Brown Sr., and Denise Brown. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to everyone who knew him. He was a strong and caring person, who you could always depend on.
Joseph became a member of Prayer Room Pentecostal Church, under the leadership of his sister, the late Bishop Geneva Glover. Through his relationship with God, he was able to find his purpose through helping people. He was a Deacon in the church, a community leader in his neighborhood, and he was a staple for his family and extended family. Joe was well known for helping many people, especially with his famous pickup truck, helping people move, picking up items, putting in windows, and doing side jobs.
On November 24, 2021, Joseph heard the call from Heaven, answered, and went home to be with the Lord to claim his Heavenly reward and to have Thanksgiving dinner with his wife. He leaves to cherish his memory, three loving children; Donald Martin of South Carolina, Marcus Brown Sr and daughter in-law, Beatrice of Randolph, MA, and Denise Brown of Boston, MA. His three grandchildren; Marcus Jr., Devaun and Matthew, and one great-grandchild Marcus Tre. Siblings, Evelyn Grant (Herman), Betty McKelton (Alfonso), George Brown (Annie Ruth), Lucille Murray Wade (James - Deceased), David Brown Jr. (Louesther), and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
