John Vernon Taylor, Jr was the only child of the late Lucille Washington Taylor and the late John V. Taylor Sr. John was born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 24, 1943.
Due to the passing of his mother when he was 3 years old, John (known to his father's family as "Johnny") was raised by his late grandparents, Frank and E. Alice Taylor.
John married his life-long companion and best friend Geraldine C. Wood Taylor and the two raised a family of kids and lots of pets.
John worked for almost 40 years for the City of Cambridge as a Human Service Case Manager and retired in January 2019. He received a Citation of appreciation from the City of Cambridge on June 17, 2019.
John loved to travel with his wife Gerry and loved to spend summers on Martha’s Vineyard with his family. One of his favorite things was designing the hanging plants for his porch. He loved to cook for his family and always had words of wisdom. He was always willing to help someone, listen to their problems, and give his advice.
John passed away on May 12, 2020 and will be missed by all who knew him.
He leaves behind his wife, Geraldine C. Wood Taylor; 6 adopted children (Carol, Anthony, Robin, John, Lynelle, Keino); his beloved cousin, Dr. Judy Sanford-Harris; 2 nieces, Stephanie and Stacey Harris; his uncle, Dr. Clyde R. Taylor; and a host of friends, family and co-workers.
His larger than life personality and sense of adventure made life interesting.
