Janie Mae Peace, 70, of Roxbury, Massachusetts, passed away on March 31, 2021. She was the daughter of Lugene and Massey Daniels.
Janie was born in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, on August 28, 1950. She graduated from Vance County Schools in Virginia and lived in North Carolina for many years before moving her family to Boston.
She was a cook, homemaker, caretaker, and avid volunteer. For many years, Janie worked as kitchen staff for a daycare which combined her love for cooking and children. In her later years, she enjoyed caring for her plants and learning new technology like using her tablet to play Candy Crush. She was well-known for baking cakes from scratch — her butter cake was a favorite among friends and family. Most people knew Janie as Ms. Peace, a perfect description of her character and the atmosphere she created around her.
Janie is survived by her children Audrey, Cynthia, Randy, son-in-law Michel; her grandchildren Brittany, Anissa, Ja-Kyri, and Jailen; her siblings Shirley, John, Maxine, Howard; sisters-in-law Tina, Debra, and Helen, brother-in-law Nathan; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and older brother Matthew.
