Jana Rose (Hurtt) Jones

Jana Rose Jones began the world as Jana Rose Hurtt, the only child of Roosevelt Hurtt of Green Bay, VA and Hermione Oakley of Mashpee, MA.  Born in Hyannis, Massachusetts on June 12, 1955, Jana was raised in Marstons Mills, MA by her grandmother Emilie Jane Hurtt of Green Bay, VA.  She attended Barnstable Schools and then onto studies at North Shore Community College in Lynn, MA and Cape Cod Community College in Barnstable, MA.  She resided in Hyde Park, MA until her sudden passing on Monday, November 7, 2022.

She was previously married to the late Earle Stephen Jones of Cambridge, MA for a number of years.  Where they settled in Lynn, MA and had two children, Tameika Leah Jones of Hyde Park, MA and Jemol Roosevelt Jones of Boston, MA “USA Navy Veteran”.  Jana was a loving mother who raised her children with all the strength she had.

Jana went on to work various positions but it was the Health Care Field she loved the most.  She enjoyed working with people over the years as a Nurse’s Aide, Homemaker, and Hospice Care.  She loved people and enjoyed helping others.

Jana enjoyed cooking, fishing, arts & crafts-adult coloring books especially the color of purple roses.  She loved people and was an expert at “Breaking the Ice”, making new friends, and loved to talk.  Her Sassy Quick Wit, humorous and entertaining spirit will surely be missed.

Jana was preceded in death by her parents Roosevelt Hurtt and Hermione Oakley, her grandmother Emilie J Hurtt, Uncle John Hurtt, Aunt Beatrice Hurtt, and ex-husband Earle S. Jones. 

She leaves behind her children Jemol R. Jones & Tameika L. Jones; son in-law Jason K. Young, cousins Stacey Mendes, Lavern Hurtt Johnson, Marva Hurtt, Bruce Hurtt, John Hurtt, III, Bud Hurtt, Jay Hurtt, and Terry Hurtt.  She also leaves a host of in-laws, great cousins and close family friends.
