Jacquelyn Leona (Cave) Dorsainvil
June 10, 1943 - March 1, 2021
Jacquelyn Leona (Cave) Dorsainvil was born on June 10, 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Thomas (TC) and Hilda (Gittens) Cave. She was the youngest of TC and Hilda’s Children. Jacquelyn was affectionately known as Jackie by all. Jackie grew up on Woodrow Wilson Drive in the Orchard Park Projects in Roxbury, MA.
Jackie attended Dearborn School and Girls High School in Roxbury, MA. Jackie attended St. Cyprians Church.
Jackie was a member of Young People’s Fellowship (YPD) at St. John’s Church and Sunday attended Record Hop (dance).
Jackie was a Drum Majorette with the Drum and Bugle Corp. She was an avid ice skater and enjoyed taking dance lessons.
Jackie worked as a Paraprofessional for the Boston Public Schools for many years until her retirement in 2015. Jackie enjoyed working with children and had the honor to work at different schools in the district including Dorchester High School and retiring at the Josiah Quincy Upper High School.
In 1972, Jackie met the love of her life, Rene Dorsainvil on Bowdoin Avenue in Dorchester, MA. They lived across the street from each other. As Jackie took out the trash, she fell and Rene fell for her. Rene declared his love for Jackie and his intent to marry her one day. If you knew Jackie, you know she probably had some choice words for the love struck Rene. But after some time, Jackie would soon fall for Rene too. From their love they had two sons, Dana and Leon.
Jackie had a passion for cooking and baking. She later turned this passion into a business and co-founded Off the Wall Caterers. Jackie’s family looked forward to the feasts that she would prepare for Easter and Thanksgiving. Jackie was also a co-owner of Stockings Up. Jackie also loved playing cards especially crazy rummy, spades and pinochle.
Jackie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rene (Winnie) Dorsainvil; parents, Thomas and Hilda Cave, sister, Marilyn Cave; oldest son, Dana Cave; oldest granddaughter, Dayna Cave and cousin Florence Gaskin.
Jackie is survived by her youngest son, Leon Dorsainvil Cave of Boston, MA; Step-children Jennifer Brock (Duncan) of Boston, MA and Darnell Anderson of Boston, MA; Daughter-in-law, Janice Cave (Dana); Grandchildren – Dominque Cave, Janelle Cave, Leon G. Dorsainvil Cave, Cheyenne Isaac, Alaia Dixon-Armstrong and Zynia Armstrong-Dixon all of Boston, MA.
Jackie had so many family and friends that she held dear to her heart that she leaves behind: Betty Galloway (BG), Roberta Smith, Patricia Clark, Jeanette Thomas, Nancy and Guy Dambreville, Nancy Galloway, Robert (Donna) Gittens, Gerald (Elizabeth) Gittens, Rich Moran, Cousin Pat, Stephen Rock and so many more.
Jackie will be missed physically by the many family and friends that were blessed to know and love her. Her spirit will live on forever in the memories she created with each of them.
