Inez Beverly Tinsley was born on March 18, 1926, in Newport Rhode Island the only child of the late Beverly and Inez Tinsley.
Inez graduated in 1949 from Hampton Institute (Dixie School of Nursing) in Hampton, Virginia (Now Hampton University). Inez was a Registered Nurse at various hospitals in the Boston area.
Inez married Thomas J. Brown of Fall River, Massachusetts on June 29th, 1952. Thomas passed away on June 24, 2013 after 61 years of marriage.
After retiring from her nursing career, in 1963, she assisted her husband in the formation of Jobs Clearing House in downtown Boston. It was a non-profit job placement center for African Americans. In the thirty year history of Jobs Clearing House, they assisted over 10,000 Boston residents connect with upward mobility employment.
Inez and Tom were "snowbirds" between their home in Canton, Massachusetts and their condominium in West Palm Beach, Florida. Golf was their passion which they enjoyed for years in Canton and Florida Country Clubs and also occasionally in Bermuda.
Inez also enjoyed cooking and gardening.
She often spoke of how blessed she was to have been able to make a financial donation towards the elevator fund of Twelfth Baptist Church and the ability to contribute to many other charities.
After Tom's death, she moved into Sophia Snow Place Assistant Living Facility in West Roxbury, Massachusetts. After needing more care, she moved into Dwyer Home in Weymouth, Massachusetts until the time of her death.
Inez is survived by her cousins, Laura and Al Ross, who have been her caretakers, her goddaughter Dr. Renee Carter-Perpall of Maryland her good friend since nursing school Minnie Carter of Maryland and other relatives and friends.
