Gloria Odom Obituary

Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.

Gloria D. Odom, the daughter of the late William L. Odom and the late Gloria I. Odom, was born on September 1, 1949 in Boston, Massachusetts. Gloria received her wings and entered the gates of Heaven on June 20, 2021.

Gloria grew up in Boston, Massachusetts and attended Boston Public Schools.  Gloria received her certificate as a tax preparer and worked at ABCD for many years.  She loved music that would move her soul and she would breakout in a dance doing the four corners with her hand in the air and a smile on her face.  On many occasions, you would see her listening to music and frying chicken.  Gloria loved to play cards and she was the best partner you could have in bid whist and for sure was a bomb spade partner.  One of her many passions was growing plants, doing crossword books, jigsaw puzzles and selling Avon.

More precious was the light in your eyes than all the roses in the world

Gloria was one of the strongest, most courageous, bravest, kindest woman to ever walk this earth and our family was blessed to have her as the head of the family.  She was a beautiful spirited person who embraced everyone with her love and kindness. She loved her family and friends and was always willing to help EVERYONE.  Gloria was a fiercely dedicated mom to her children, grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandmother to her grandson who she called her ANGEL. Family came first and was above all else to Gloria, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.

Only a moment you stayed, but what an imprint your footprints have left on our hearts

Gloria has been embraced within the loving arms of the LORD and is preceded in death by her father William L. Odom, mother Gloria I. Odom, son Robert Odom, Robert Haney (father of her son and daughter), sister Rosetta Stroud, brother Darryl Odom, aunt Constance Holley, foster sister Darilen Cawley, cousin Vincent Harris and godmother Alma White.  She is survived by her daughter LaToya Johnson, son-in-law Jermaine Johnson, granddaughters AuJané Stewart, Bobbie Lebron Odom, great grandson Ryland Stewart-Cauley, her brothers Richard and Kevin, her sisters Darlene, Deborah and Pamela, god children, uncles and aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and many friends.

What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of other
