Gloria M. Bingham was born in Port Antonio, Portland, Jamaica on October 15, 1936 to Lurline Tully and Dermott Bingham. She was a middle child of four children: Joyce, Velma and James.
Gloria and her mother migrated to the United States on May 30, 1951. Graduate of Girls High School and Boston Business School (merged with Roxbury Community College in 1984). They later became citizens of the United States but took great pride in their Jamaican roots. Gloria was an Administrative Assistant for Payroll of the Executive Office for Health & Human Resources for the state of Massachusetts. She worked there for 35 years and retired on January 7, 2005.
Gloria was charismatic. She was very popular among her peers. Her kind heart and generous spirit was part of her charm. Many of her childhood friends chose to travel with her throughout her life. She met Robert MacMillan Hill and had one child, Vanessa. She was both mother and father to her daughter. She always tried to do the best she could for her daughter. Their relationship will always be special and cherished.
She is survived by her daughter, Vanessa Bingham; her brother, James Reid, his wife, Deirdre and their children, Shaun, Jamie, Shauna and James, Jr.; Cousins, Amelia Edward, Lorraine Robinson, Janet and Sandra Parnell. She was pre-deceased by her sisters, Joyce and Velma.
