Gerald Powell Obituary

Gerald Mack Powell III was born on February 28,1966 in Boston, Massachusetts to Barbara and Gerald M. Powell II. Gerald was best known to many as GP, Jerry, or G-Money. He graduated from English High School then continued his education at Roxbury Community College. As a young man, Gerald loved driving his mother's car which influenced his passion for driving. He would go on to receive his CDL driver’s license and drive across the United States for Peter Pan and Brush Hill transportation companies. However, he would spend most of his career driving the 53ft long bloodmobile for the Red Cross of Massachusetts.

Gerald enjoyed meeting people and conversing about life, world issues, and sports. To most, he’s a nice quiet guy, soft spoken and reserved. When he befriended you, he considered you family. He would hit you with his jokes, laughter, and funny facial expressions. He was an avid reader of the newspaper, magazines, and current events. He also enjoyed watching CNN and local news. He was so aware of what was going on around him that he would willingly engage in a debate to share his political point of view.

Gerald's deep love for his children was unquestionable. Daddy's girls Najee, Trinity and Brandy have a very special place in his heart that echoes "I love you"; and for his sons Dashod, Jared and Malcolm, he was so proud of the Godly, purpose-driven men they have become. Gerald also valued being a member of The Greater Love Tabernacle which he attended regularly. He enjoyed listening to the sermons and sharing many of the illustrated examples that his pastor, Apostle William E. Dickerson demonstrated. Most of all he valued his relationship with his Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. A few of his last words were “I’m Saved - Hallelujah”

Gerald was born with Sickle Cell Anemia and despite his many health and life challenges, he fought a good fight, he has finished the race and kept the faith; we will miss him deeply.

Gerald’s legacy will continue as he leaves to cherish his memory: His mother Rev. Barbara A. Dulin, his sons: Gerald Dashod Powell, Minister Jared Powell (Mary), Malcolm Powell (Victoria), his daughters: Najee Manor, Briana Trinity Powell, and Brandy Powell. His siblings: Annette Bartley (Joseph) and Reginald Mayo (Shatasha) Jada Powell. Gerald was also blessed with six grandchildren: Talayzia, Jayla, London, Andrew, Jace and Aaron along with a granddaughter expected this summer; 2 nieces Shanai and Akira Mayo, 2 nephews Jalen Bartley, Qualan Powell who (preceded him). His aunts: Terry Dulin, Francine Dulin, Gloria Osborn (Steven). His uncle: Corey and a host of cousins.
