Mae Frances Gallagher was born on September 26th, 1951, In Greenwood, Mississippi to the late Mr. Frank Lacy and Paralee Dixon Lacy both of Greenwood, Mississippi. 13 siblings: Annelee (Ed), Mattie (BO), Flora (Johnlee-Deceased), Barbara, Frankie, Theresa, Lynette, Walter-(Deceased), Tommy, Jessie, Carl, David, and Frank Jr. She Graduated from Glenburr School, on RaceTrack Plantation, in Greenwood, MS.
In the Mid 80’s Frances moved from Springfield, Ill to Boston, MA where she worked as a security officer for Longwood Security, and later became a Nursing Assistant, at the VA Hospital for almost 37 years. She worked in JP Medical Surgery for 10 years, 3 years in Outpatient Substance Disorder program, 8 years in West Roxbury SICU and she retired from the Transport/Escort department after 10 years. Frances was the recipient of multiple ICARE, GOOD CATCH and SAFETY Awards. She was considered by her colleagues as a “Titan” because of her great work, will power and encouragement during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Veterans looked forward to their outpatient appointments in JP because of her compassion, kindness, and sense of humor.
Frances loved to Dance, Sing, Cook and Shop, she was a faithful member of Mount Calvary Holiness Church for many years, and later joined NMC Tabernacle under the leadership of Bishop David Wilson, whom also was a recipient of one of her Kidneys.
On April 16, 2024, Frances peacefully, with her children by her side was called home to be with the Lord. She leaves to cherish her 3 children Pauline Martin of Springfield, Ill, Erika Martin-Ware (Kenny) of Boston, Dominic Jones Sr. of Springfield, Ill, eight grandchildren: Jessica, Lewis, Laramii, Vantasia, Kewan, Dominic Jr., Zyel, Tru, seven great-grands, seven step-grandkids, 18 step-grandkids, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, friends and church family.
