Christopher Williams Obituary

Christopher Patrick Williams, affectionately known as Chris was the only son and last child of Thelma Williams and the late Vernon Williams. Growing up on Bragdon Street in Roxbury, Chris attended Mission Grammar; his family later moved to Hyde Park during which time he graduated from the Carroll School in Lincoln, Massachusetts.

During his formative years he was a member of the Boston Pal program which provided opportunities for young people to gain leadership experience, participate in sports leagues or engage in art and cultural activities. He had a special interest in pursuing a career as a fire fighter or police officer to make a difference in his community. He was an avid football fan and spent several years playing pop warner. During his high school years, he played football for West Roxbury High School.

Chris grew up at Charles Street AME Church where his parents and sisters were also members. He met Kyle Wells, Denton Garrett and Keich Scott (deceased) through his participation in the youth choir. They would remain his lifelong friends. His circle of friends grew while he lived in Hyde Park including Felipe Ogaldez (Pete), Vladimir Rene, James Martin, Jaka and Beau Claiborne and Tim Daley (deceased).

Chris was blessed with two spiritual mothers: Rev. Opal Adams and Elta Garrett.

A great conversationalist and people person, this drew people to him making him a faithful friend to many. He made others feel comfortable whenever they were around him.  He could bring a smile to your face during any conversation you had with him. He served as a big brother/mentor to several young men he met including Mickarl (Mikey) Thomas, Jr. (deceased).

In the 90s Chris joined his father and sister Rachel at the Boston Globe in the position of mailer. He was a member of the union Boston Globe Mailers Local 1. While working at the Globe he met Shirley Belizare whom he later married (now divorced). From this union came one son Chaise.

Chris will be fondly remembered by his family: Mother Thelma, sisters Veronica and Rachel, son Chaise and nephew Zachary. He will be missed by his many friends. May his soul rest in peace.
