Celia Marie Irby affectionately known as “Ciel”, was born in Boston MA on May 30, 1975, to Joyce Irby and the late Rudolph Cephas Sr. —If you knew her in her younger years, you can’t possibly forget her beautiful little bright, brown face with her thick, gorgeous, long, full, twisted ponytails that was often accented with bows and barrettes. Celia absolutely loved and cherished family. It was important to her to maintain relationships, beloved and show others that she loved them. She went out of her way to keep in touch with those that she loved, and that loved her. She was blessed to have an extended village, “The Walker family” that helped to love and raise her and who continued to be involved and present in her life up until her passing. Celia was adopted in her early teens by her bonus Aunty, the late Adrienne “Nini” (Walker) Joyner. Celia and Nini had a very special love and bond between them up until Nini’s passing in 2013. Celia was a simple person who loved singing and music. There wasn’t a morning you couldn’t find her sitting on the porch watching the sun rise as she enjoyed her daily cigarette and cup of coffee. Chris Brown and DMX were among her favorite entertainers. She would sing her heart out and you could tell that she felt it in her soul, music truly made her happy. She enjoyed playing cards, especially solitaire and she was obsessed with Minnie and Mickey Mouse having everything from coffee cups to pajamas. The past year was especially hard and troublesome for her as she was suffering from a broken heart due to the loss of her long time, love of her life, Corey Moody, who preceded her in death back in February of 2022. She is now at peace, reunited with Corey, and in the loving arms of the lord.
Celia suddenly departed her precious life at the tender age of 48 on the evening of September 24, 2023. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nichelle Cephas, Aunt “Nini”, and nephew James Cephas. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Joyce Irby, Sister Corine Irby, brothers: Shawn Cephas and Rudolph Cephas Jr. (Debbie), aunts: Barbara Irby, Cheryl Irby, and Andrea “ Potsie” Walker, uncles: Clarence Irby, Robert Irby, John Walker, Sean Walker, Kyle Walker, and bonus uncle David “Bossy” Jones, nephews: Robert , Troy, Joseph, Knygel, Shawn Jr., Keyshawn, Dashawn, Kyron, Lil Rudy, Manny, Andrew, and Josai, nieces: Rayleigh , Nevaeh, and Tamara, her best friend Tania, and a special cousin Brandi (Bo) who she loved dearly. She also leaves a host of other family and friends who loved her and will miss her tremendously.
