Carol Ann (Bailey) Hairston was born on May 11, 1936, in Boston, Massachusetts the only child of Helen Anderson Bailey and Luther Bailey.
Carol was educated in the Boston Public schools and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Lesley University.
She married Allen Hardwick and from that union she had one son Allen Joseph Hardwick, Jr.(now deceased). From her second union to William (Billy) Hairston, she had a daughter, Cheryl, and a son William (David).
Carol worked for many years in the Boston Public Schools as an Administrative Assistant during the late 1960s to early 1970s.
She also was a Substance Abuse Counselor at Dimock Health Center and retired 2001 to care for her ailing mother.
Carol was an avid shopper and loved nice clothes and shoes. A couple of her favorite shopping haunts were the old Filene’s Basement and Lord & Taylor. She also loved to listen to great R & B and jazz.
Carol loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren. She was a very quiet person. She looked forward to Juneteenth so she could reunite with some of her childhood friends.
Carol left us quietly on the evening of March 5, 2023. Carol is preceded in death by her mother, Helen Anderson Bailey, her father Luther Bailey, her son Allen Joseph Hardwick, and her grandson Warren Daniel Hairston. She is survived by her two children, Cheryl Hairston-Gomes and William “David” Hairston, her grandchildren: Indya, Corinne, David, Damien, Davyona, Deonna and Cyle. Great grandchildren: Danajah, Ilah, Skylah and Daniel; and a whole host of friends some of which have become like family (Donna Davis, Laureen McCollin-Gopie, Lorraine McCollin and Sylvia Mathews (Burns).
