Bradford H. Jones, a retired police officer, former veteran, and loving father transitioned to heaven on June 2nd, 2021.
Born to Ernest and Nathalie Jones on February 15th 1937 in Malden MA. Bradford was the third born out of five children and was endearingly called “Budgy” by his mother. Bradford was remarkably close to his siblings Calvin Jones, Irene Brathwaite, Penny Jones, and Russell Jones. Growing up Bradford loved all sports. He enjoyed softball as a child and later in life played on the Boston Police Department softball team.
In 1957 Bradford married his childhood sweetheart Juanita Cribb. Bradford and Juanita had three children Deborah Torrence, Bradford Jones Jr., and Valerie Blocker. He also embraced raising cousins Ida Joyce and Mark Walker.
Bradford was intelligent with a businessman mindset and an admirable work ethic. With everything Bradford did he worked incredibly hard at it. His work ethic never went unnoticed. He received many accolades and accommodations over the years. In 1954 Bradford joined the US Air Force and studied mechanics until 1957. After being honorably discharged he was employed at Wayne Shoe Company for six years. In 1964 he joined the Boston Police Department where he served as a Police Officer / Detective/ acting Sergeant for thirty-eight years. During his time on the police force he was called and compared to the TV character SHAFT. Bradford was a one of a kind Detective that was known in the city of Boston for protecting all citizens and living his life by the badge.
After retiring in 2002 Bradford spent all his time with family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards and dominos with his buddy's, watching the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots. Most importantly he enjoyed a home cook meal with his family.
Bradford leaves to cherish his memories and beautiful family. His beloved wife Juanita, his children Deborah, Brad Jr., and Valerie. His son in-laws William and Aaron, his sister Irene. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Ashley and Amanda, and his two great granddaughters Nilah and Peyton and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.
