Benny Thomas Hicks entered this world on June 27, 1947. He was called to his heavenly home on July 9, 2021.
Benny was the eighth of ten children born to the late John Hicks and Lula Hicks in Wrightsville, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his sisters Betty Pace, Lessie Dixon; brothers James L., Edward, Lee Arthur, Herman; and daughter Tabatha.
Educated in the Johnson County school system, Benny traveled the Southeast as part of an R&B band. He met Annie R, who would be the love of his life, while serving as a backup singer one night.
After getting married, Annie and Benny lived in Augusta, Georgia for a short while before moving to Boston, Massachusetts in late 1969, where they remained married for over 52 years. This union yielded two boys, Thomas and Todd, both of whom he was very proud.
Once moving to Boston, Benny took several jobs working at what is now known as Boston Medical Center and Checker Cab. Benny always had a love for mechanics and could fix just about anything. Even in retirement he still tinkered with various small engine machinery.
Benny is survived by his wife Annie, his sons Thomas and Todd, his sisters Johnnie and Lula B., his brother Willie L., 14 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
