Aureldon Edward Henderson, (affectionately known as “Ed”, “Eddie”, “Uncle Alden” or “Hendy”) of Boston, born on April 25, 1927, in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Josiah Henderson and the late Mabel G. (Wells) Brown, passed away on December 28, 2021, at the age of 94. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Phyllis M. (McLaurin), 3 sisters Josephine A. (Brown) Shelnut, Mildred A. Brown and Doris A. (Brown) Graham.
Ed worked for Polaroid Corporation for 35 years, retiring in 1993. He was a Co-Founder, President, Treasurer and active member of the Boston Jazz Society from 1973 to 2014. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and also served on the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Advisory Board, acting as a Patient Advocate. He served as Altar Boy at St. James African Orthodox Church in Roxbury. He was a member of the Just Men’s Club, which was formed with his close friends.
He leaves behind 4 children – Mark E. and his wife Joyce, son Paul C.; daughters Sheila J., and Susan C.; 6 grandchildren – Mihisha, Serena, William, Jaelani, Skylar and Kaela; 4 great-grandchildren Saniya, Serae, Makayla and Nova; sister-in-law Grace M. (McLaurin) Roland and a host of nephews, nieces and dear friends.
