Alice Kate Kines was born in Bessemer, Alabama and moved to Boston, MA in the early 1960s. She received a vocational certificate in Business Administration from the Boston Business School. She then went on to work as an administrative clerical worker for the Internal Revenue Service, Harvard Medical School, the Division of Unemployment, and Building Pathways, which was her last place of employment before her diagnosis. All the while she worked a full-time position at these companies, she continued to pursue her passion as a barmaid at the William E. Carter Post, The Carver Den, and The Cost Guard. She passed on April 17, 2021.
She leaves behind her two sons, Robert and Jordan Kines, and her granddaughter, Janelly Kines, and lifelong friend, Clovis Slowley. Her parents Jeff and Lula Mae Kines predeceased her. She is one of six siblings, Betty Williams (deceased), Rashad Rasheed (Sonny Boy), Jeff Kines Jr., Thomas Kines, and Debbie Kines. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and close friends.
As a committed mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend much of her joy consisted of family gatherings, BBQs, and shopping. Her love and unwavering commitment to her siblings, family, and friends was genuine in all interactions. She will be missed dearly by all.
