Zelda Grace
Godfrey
Dec 5, 1953 — Sep 7, 2024
Dorchester
Zelda G. Godfrey, 71, of Dorchester, was born in San Jose, Costa Rica on December 05, 1953, to the late Daniel Godfrey and Iris (Whitehorn) Godfrey. Zelda, along with her mother and siblings migrated to Boston, Massachusetts, and eventually established a home in Dorchester, MA, where she was peacefully called home on September 07, 2024, with her loving family at her side.
Zelda worked for the Polaroid company, once located in Cambridge, MA . Afterwards she moved on to become a Unit Secretary for the Brigham and Women's Hospital NICU and the Boston Children's Hospital transplant unit both located in Boston, MA . After over 20 years of service, she retired from both hospitals and was an active vestry member at St. Cyprians Church. Zelda was an avid lover of watching wrestling both WWE and AEW as well as watching baseball and basketball, and greatly enjoyed the playful banter between her and her grandnephew (Jamae) when making "bets" on football. She also enjoyed trips to baseball games with her sister, being on cruises and travelling with the family to different countries.
She leaves to mourn her passing and honor her memory her brother Daniel Godfrey, twin sister Sarita Richards (Alfonso Richards), partner Percy Niles, as well as nieces Natasha Richards, Damita and Iris Richards, nephew Marcus Richards (Nancy Richards), 2 grandnieces, 4 grandnephews and a host of cousins and close friends.
As we lay Zelda to rest, we are consoled by the promise of our faith that she is now at peace in the loving embrace of our Lord. We celebrate her life, a life well-lived in service to her family, her faith, and friends.
