Zana Hall, affectionately known to many as "Zany Zane," was a man of immense talent, sharp intellect, and a heart as big as his personality. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on January 28, 1970, to Roy Hall and Terry Slayman-Hall, Zana was the younger of two siblings.

Zana's educational journey was marked by both resilience and excellence. He attended Nazareth, a Catholic residential school, during his elementary years, followed by Brandon residential middle school. He then attended McKinley Vocational High School, where he majored in woodworking and upholstery. Zana's brilliant mind shone brightly at McKinley; he graduated with the highest GPA in his entire graduating class, an achievement that earned him the distinct honor of serving as his class Valedictorian.

A man of faith, Zana accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior while living in California and attending Bishop McClendon's church. His devotion to his faith was expressed through his talents, as a certified audio and visual engineer.

When he returned home to Boston Zana dedicated his time to setting up the audio equipment where he then attended Pastor Gerald E. Bell's church at the Strongtower. Zana would assist where there was a need. His best attention was to their music department.

Zana was a truly magnetic and eccentric character in the best sense. Though he lived with Tourette's Syndrome from childhood into his adult life, he refused to let it dim his light. Instead, he used humor to bridge the gap with others. When people felt uncomfortable with his tics, Zana would crack a joke, making them laugh and helping them feel at ease. This unique empathy made him exceptionally gifted in his work with children. For five years, he worked in residential care with behaviorally challenged youth, receiving special recognition for his innate ability to de-escalate stressful situations and connect with those who needed it most.

Music and travel were the backbeats of Zana's life. Because of his stature and strength, he traveled the world as part of the security team for the legendary pop group New Edition, working alongside his first cousin, the group's lead member. Zana was a musician in his own right—a creator of beats, a lyricist, a singer, and a rapper who loved all genres. His popular local hit, "Gumbo," was a testament to his worldview; it wasn't about food, but about people from all walks of life, from Boston to California and beyond, coming together as one.

After touring, Zana settled in California, where he embraced his most cherished role: becoming a father to his beautiful daughter, Zali. While there, he also showed his devotion to family by caring for his aunt and his younger cousin.

Professionally, Zana was a man of many skills. After returning to Boston to settle personal affairs, his computer savvy led to a successful career in IT infrastructure. He traveled the country setting up networks for major companies and maintained a thriving freelance business locally.

Though he spoke often of his desire to return to California, his plans were tragically interrupted by an underlying medical condition. Zana fought a long, hard battle to regain his footing, facing every setback with the same strength he had shown throughout his life. Ultimately, he was unable to return to the center of his heart—his daughter Zali and her mother.

Zana Hall leaves behind a legacy of laughter, brilliant craftsmanship, and a "Gumbo" spirit that reminds us all to bring people together. He will be deeply missed by his mother, Terry Hall; his brother, Aaron Hall; his daughter, Zali Rheaye; his granddaughter, Lelani; and a host of family members and the countless lives he touched with his contagious personality
