Winnifred Leona Dixon (known to many as "Aunt Vee") was born in the district of Flamstead Gardens, Saint James, Jamaica to Saintrena Clarke and Hubert "Baba" Dixon. She grew up with her brothers Herbert, Fred, Lenny and sisters, Doris, and Edna. She attended primary school in her district and passed the Third Jamaica local examination at the age of sixteen. Aunt Vee later studied at Mico Teachers College. After graduating, she taught at Vaughnsfield Primary School in Flamstead Gardens, and later at Sea Ward All Age School in Kingston. Aunt Vee emigrated from Jamaica to the United States in September of 1982. She worked for many years at Partners HealthCare before retiring.  She achieved the American dream of owning a home.  She adopted children.  She made legions of friends, and made this new land her home. Along the way, Aunt Vee established roots in the community, particularly through where she worshipped. She was known by many, and loved by all who really knew her. Aunt Vee was whip smart, affable, and generous. She made an impression wherever she ventured, and parted having made new friends. Aunt Vee believed in helping people, whether by opening her home to them, offering her good counsel, or stretching her hand. Throughout her life, and even late in life, she remained fiercely independent. Aunt Vee lived a life of service to God.  For many years, she held church at her home, where she presided over service as the pastor of Shiloh House of God.  Over the years, she was a regular presence at other churches, as both a member and visitor. Aunt Vee was committed not just to preaching the word of God, she also lived the Word, read and studied the Bible daily, encouraged her brothers and sisters in Christ, and counseled family, friends, and strangers alike over her many decades of worship and service to God.  Until the very end, her life was steeped in Christian principles, and guided by her faith. Aunt Vee is survived by her adopted children, Evron and Karen Dixon, brother, Alfred Dixon, numerous nieces and nephews, among them, Joan Lyle, Joan Harris (known as "Pats"), Noreen (known as "Joy"), Lisa, Arlene, Grace, Donna, Michael, Orville, Charlie, Rexi, and Glenroy, as well as numerous grand nephews, grand nieces, other relations, and close friends, many of whom are in attendance today. Aunt Vee's life was a blessing to many. In death, her memory will remain a blessing. Aunt Vee will be sorely missed, but we should be comforted by the knowledge that she lived to a ripe old age, died at peace, ready to meet her maker, and that her reward in heaven awaits her.
