Walter Richard Walker was born in Boston, MA on February 8, 1925. He was often referred to as "Pat" by family members and close friends. Walter was the elder of two sons born to Leola Walker who relocated to Boston from Wilmington, North Carolina. As a child he lived in Roxbury and the South End while attending Boston Public Schools. At the age of 18 he joined the Navy during World War II and became part of the Construction Battalion known as the CB's and was assigned to the war effort in the Pacific. After returning from the War, in 1948 he married Dorothea M. Ransom. Together they became the parents of six children. Walter was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching college as well as professional sports. On Sundays he could usually be found in front of the TV enjoying a sports event. He was a passionate fan of the Patriots, Celtics and especially the Red Sox. He also liked to listen to jazz, his favorite music genre. April 29, 2024, Walter R. Walker passed away ending his journey on earth. He was preceded in death by his mother, Leola Walker Oden; brother, Edward Walker, Sr.; wife, Dorothea M. Walker; and one son, Jerald R. Walker, Sr. He leaves behind to cherish his memory five children: Stephen R. Walker, Karen J. Walker, Cheryl M. Walker, Marilyn D. Walker Harris, and David A. Walker. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Jerald R. Walker Jr., Stephen Sneed, Tamara Bacon, Janelle Bacon and Asaad Fulton as well as several great grandchildren. His many nieces and nephews will miss "Uncle Walter" as will his neighbors and friends.
